I was a founding
partner of Somerset based Stuart Interiors,
leaders in oak reproduction woodwork and interior design in
16th & 17th century styles. We made high quality oak facsimiles
of furniture and architectural joinery
My first practical role was as a woodcarver and maker
- see examples of my work below.
I was one of 5 partners employing 15-25 people as we grew.
Between 1976 & 1988 I was involved in all aspects of the
business at different times : Design, making, carving, publicity
and photography, marketing, personnel management, admin. and
finance.
1983,'84 & '88: Undertook short term assignments working
with the wood carving
industry in North India as a consultant designer
developing a range of new products for their export markets.
See examples below
Employer: United Nations, International Trade Centre, Geneva.
1989-98: Became self-employed wood carver, furniture restorer
and maker, whilst exploring and beginning counselling training.
